Mountain biking in Dundee!

Mountain biking doesn't only take place in the Highlands, and with an estimated million mountain bikes in circulation in Scotland people are looking for new places to ride. Sometimes they just want to get started and not have to travel too far from home.

To help meet this demand, Dundee City Council has been working with Mountain Biking Development Scotland to create a set of route cards describing trails in some of Dundee's beautiful parks. The Green Circular has provided a link between many of the parks for cyclists and walkers for many years, and now mountain bikers can enjoy a spin around individual parks with help from the new route maps.

Although they are not too challenging, the trails will provide varied off-road experiences in the local area and are ideal for those who want to try this sort of thing for the first time.

The parks covered are: The Law; Balgay; Camperdown; Templeton; Caird Park; Reres Hill and Orchar Park; and Dighty Haughs, which extends into Monifieth.

Stride and the Ancrum Outdoor Centre also worked with the lead partners on this project.

Route cards are available from local libraries and the tourist office, and can be downloaded from the Stride website.
